4. NATURE OF PROBLEM SOLVED

FEP4.16 is a program developed to provide a common access to a suite of graphical tools developed for performing Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA). These tools include the graphical event tree, fault tree, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagram editors. The event tree editor allows the analyst to construct and modify graphical event trees. The fault tree editor allows the user to construct and modify graphical fault trees. The P and ID editor allows the user to construct and modify plant drawings. These drawings can then be used to document the modeling used in a PRA.



5. METHOD OF SOLUTION

FEP4.16 is written in entirely MODULA-2 and uses an integrated commercial graphics package to interactively construct and edit the graphic fault trees, event trees, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.



6. RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS

None noted.



7. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

FEP4.16 is an interactive program, and running times are a function of the size of model being constructed.



8. COMPUTER HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

IBM-PC/XT/AT/PS-2 OR 100 percent compatible computer running DOS 5.0. The PC must have a 640K of RAM, an EGA/VGA compatible monitor and display adaptor, and a hard disk with at least 5 megabytes of free space. A numeric math co-processor and a mouse are highly recommended.



9. COMPUTER SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The codes were written in MODULA-2 for IBM-PC/XT/AT/PS-2 running DOS 5.0. The package includes executables for PC, but no source files are included. FEP 4.16 was submitted to ESTSC in 1993. It was neither modified nor tested when it was transferred to RSICC and released in January 2002.
